Beach Clean May 2008

SI Cardiff & District undertook a beach clean on May 31st 2008. Six members and a daughter arrived and set to work! The weather in Cardiff was glorious when we left but a coastal mist prevailed and we were denied the glorious sunshine that we had hoped for. Nonetheless many pieces of metal and fishing gear were found and many black bags were filled with various items of clothing, plastic mugs, food containers and crisp & cigarette packets to name a few of the items collected and recorded for the Marine Conservation Society. Praise from passers by was welcomed and information about Soroptimists was shared with those interested. After a good session we retired to The Captains Wife and enjoyed some welcome refreshment. We discovered that a local school for the disabled undertakes beach cleans regularly and we have decided to contact the school to attempt to build links.
