Events – September 2007

Saturday 15th September

The beach at Swanbridge (in front of Captain's Wife pub) has been 'adopted' as part of the club's programme action. The first beach clean was undertaken in July 2007. It was obvious that the beach had been neglected for some time and we collected almost 50kg of rubbish. But we were pleased that there was a lot less to pick up this time – only about 15kg. Our next 'pick' will be sometime over the winter – date tba. There are jobs for anyone who doesn't feel like clambering over the rocks and it's fun and very companionable, with refreshments at The Captain's Wife to look forward to afterwards!

Sunday 9th September

Sunday saw some 18 or so members from SI Cardiff and Barry clubs enjoying a brisk Sunday afternoon walk in the park for the Licking Lassa Fever fund. There was something for everyone, with mapped routes offering a choice of 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 mile walks through Cardiff's Pontcanna Fields and Bute Park, taking in the riverside Taff Trail, the Millennium Bridge and Blackweir suspension bridge. With fine weather, good company, and recovery over a drink afterwards – what better way for Cardiff members to raise £550 to add to the growing LLF total?
